CTE Music Production class from Huntington Beach visits SVHS CTE Music Production class.

Students from both schools performed original and cover songs. Student panel discussed approaches to songwriting, electronic music, production and goals for college and career in the music industry.

Student field trip to UNIVERSAL AUDIO. Learned about designing for Thunderbolt audio interfaces, analog recording hardware, and UAD audio plug-ins. Also got to see the UA recording studio and meet UA Founder, Bill Putnam. Pretty cool! Felt like we had the golden ticket to the Willy Wonka Factory!

ROP Music Production and Recording Arts Class 2016-2017 at Scotts Vally High School! Students will be performing original songs written in class at Don Quixote’s International Music Hall on Sunday, May 21st from 2-4 PM.

Scotts Valley High ROP Music Production and Recording Arts Students get a visit from the John Lennon Educational Bus!

Students were able to record an original song written in class on the John Lennon Bus February 22nd.  Following the bus visit the NAMM Foundation held a SupportMusic Community Forum at the high school. Students, teachers, administrators and community leaders served on the panels. Santa Cruz County Superintendent of Schools, Michael Watkins, opened up the event moderated by Mary Luehrsen, Executive Director of the NAMM Foundation.  Closing the event were proclamations given to the John Lennon Foundation and the NAMM Foundation by County Supervisor, Bruce McPherson.

We all hope that the state will see the value and importance of music in our schools and designate funding for music education!
