SVHS Students Perform at the California Music Educators Association Central Coast 2020 Honor Choir and Band.

Choir and Band students can audition to be selected into the honor ensembles through CMEA. This year we had four students that auditioned and were selected.  Our students begin in middle school and some of our choir students are on their 5th year in the ensemble. Our band student did her third year with the honor band. Congrats to all!

SVHS Winter Concert Wednesday, January 22nd in the Student Union from 6:30-8 PM.


CTE Music Production class from Huntington Beach visits SVHS CTE Music Production class.

Students from both schools performed original and cover songs. Student panel discussed approaches to songwriting, electronic music, production and goals for college and career in the music industry.

SVHS a cappella group performs at the Santa Cruz Gold Standard Barbershop Holiday Concert!

Music Production students get an education in recording arts engineering at Universal Audio.

Music Classes Offered at SVHS 2019-2020

Scotts Valley High School offers a variety of music classes on campus, including a pioneering CTE College and Career Pathways for Music Production and Recording Arts. SVHS is a GRAMMY Foundation Signature Enterprise Award School for music education. We hope you will consider one of our music classes for next year!

BAND and CHOIR classes:

Music students participate in a variety of concerts throughout the year, including festivals, winter and spring concerts and community and school events.

Both Band and Choir study music history and theory, in addition to performing.

Grade: 9-12 – 1 year / 10 credits

Meets: UC/CSU F requirement


This is an introductory class to music production and the audio recording arts. It covers basic recording studio skills including analog audio theory, digital audio, signal flow, microphones, mic placement and tracking.

Students will be covering computer based sequencing, signal processing, recording and score editing using Apple’s Logic 10 digital software program.

Students will be learning about the careers available in the music industry and will become familiar with standard music industry business practices.

Students will be learning techniques relevant to composing in a commercial song format.

Grade: 9-12 – 1 year / 10 credits

Meets: UC/CSU F requirement

Currently articulated with Cabrillo College 57A
